Hello, I'm Alina👋

Dr Alina Chakraborty

Founder and Director, STEM Dorado

Award-Winning Mentor

I'm a cancer biologist with over 15+ years of experience in research, teaching, and mentoring, and a proud mum to a curious 7-year-old. Over the years, I've been fortunate to contribute to high-quality research and support students who have gone on to succeed in their careers. While I've loved my work in science, I've always felt a deeper calling to make science exciting and accessible for children.

This passion inspired me to start STEM Dorado. My vision is simple: I want every child who interacts with us to understand scientific concepts clearly, feel inspired about learning, and develop the confidence to excel not only academically but in life as a whole. I believe that science should be hands-on, fun, and meaningful — not just something from a textbook.

Through STEM Dorado, we provide science and maths resources for KS1 and KS2 students, alongside interactive workshops — both online and face-to-face — designed to spark curiosity and encourage exploration. We also run a mentoring programme for children in years 4–9, combining curriculum-aligned lessons with experiments and assignments that make learning active and engaging.

In addition, we bring science into celebrations with our science-themed birthday parties, where children can explore experiments, hands-on activities, and fun challenges while celebrating their special day. It's a unique way to combine learning with joy, making birthdays memorable and inspiring.

I work closely with a team of talented scientists and STEM educators to create experiences that nurture curiosity, build critical thinking, and instill important life skills like perseverance, creativity, and resilience. My goal is to help children not only succeed in exams, but grow into confident, inquisitive, and capable individuals who love learning.
